At the end of September Brettell Road headed to the Stafford exhibition. A good time was had by all and as always I’d like to extend my thanks to the guys for their assistance. Also to those who stopped by and the kind comments received.

As always there are a few things to do after the show but nothing to dramatic. There’s a little rake of rogue wagons that need looking at. I’m convinced that no matter how much something is tested, bunging it in a vehicle and driving it to a show will always result in some of the stock refusing to play nicely when you get there, it’s just how it is!

One area that had come up before but I decided needing fixing was that the wagons parked in the goods warehouse would roll backwards away from the bufferstops.  This is because way back when I started the layout I used 6mm MDF as a trackbed. Most of that has gone now as it wasn’t very stable but in the right hand yard its still there.  The less than perfectly flat surface seemed to suit a run down yard and its only been a problem in this specific area.

So bracing it underneath its been pulled flatter. I also took the opportunity to extend the siding while i was at it.

While I had this board on its own, it’s the most awkward to get to when the layouts set up in the shed, I revisited the abandoned yard to add a bit more foliage and leaf clutter.

A view that’s hard to get with a DSLR camera.  Probably dead easy with a phone though.

One of the 3 projects I wanted to get done for Safford was to finish off my second pannier tank that I started about 18 months ago.  See here

Well it did get finished but it was too close to the show to do a post about it.  Like the other 57xx it features a High Level Kits chassis with working inside motion cobbled together from Brassmasters and Finney bits.
